I am involved with a book club through a couple girls at work. I am really enjoying it because the group is very diverse, ranging in age from 28 (me being one of the youngest) to close to 60. It has lead me to book I probably would have not picked up on my own and really opened my field of literary knowledge. We have read Still Alice, The Help, A Wrinkle in Time and now The Persian Pickle Club.
The Persian Pickle Club has been interesting so far. I love having the library so close to work because I can take a quick walk over there and grab a book. The Persian Pickle Club is set in the 1930s in Kansas. The weather is horribly dry and farming is not going well. The Persian Pickle Club is a group of women, who also range in age, who get together to quilt. They help each other quilt when a top of the quilt is put together and share scraps, which are often pieces of old dresses, sackcloth’s and sometimes, coveted fabric.
I have always had a passion for words and have always wanted to write my own books. I have sat down and tried a couple times, but not successfully. I found a website that offers writing programs for students and I really wish I would have had something like this as a student. I loved creative writing, but growing up in a small school there was a lack of teachers for such a specific class.
Maybe sometime I will be able to dive into writing a book, I am sure that the drive and willingness inside of me would help produce something. But if I do ever have a child or find a young friend that is interesting in writing I will definitely use this writing program.

I loved The Help and I really want to read Still Alice. Thanks for sharing!
